Tips if your Advent candlestick isn’t lighting up
As Advent approaches, it’s time to take out your Advent candlestick and get ready for the season. But what do you do if it stays dark when you plug it in? Don’t worry – this is usually an easy fix!
Here are some simple steps to troubleshoot an Advent candlestick that won’t light after being stored away for months.
Step 1: Check the light sources
Start by tightening each light source. A loose light source is often the culprit. If your candlestick still isn’t lighting up, inspect each one to make sure they’re intact and not damaged.
Step 2: Adjust the contacts
If the light sources are fine but the candlestick still won’t light, the problem could be that they’re not making contact with the metal tabs at the bottom of the socket. Unplug the candlestick from the wall and use a small screwdriver to gently lift the metal tab to improve the connection. Also, check the side tab to ensure it’s making contact with the threads of the light source.
Step 3: Test the light sources with a battery
To see if the light sources are working, you can test them with a 9V battery. Touch one terminal to the bottom of the light source and the other to the side. If it’s functioning, it will light up.
